Minutes of LGBTLincs on 21st March at Sheldrake Road
Attendees: BS, MS, GT Apologies: SM
Item 1. Minutes of the Last Meeting. The only actions outstanding were to confirm that all the details of LGBT Lincs had been passed to the relevant groups for their respective websites.
Item 2. Financial Situation. The current accounts, as of 21st March, were provided and approved. LGBT Lincs had a balance of £111. A plan for the next financial year had been drafted and circulated prior to the meeting. The original budget request was for £750; however, after details emerged to support the teenager group this cost estimate had risen to £886; hence a request for £900 had been made to the Allen Lane Foundation. They were to consider our application next month for a final review at their Trustees Meeting in June. A parallel bid for funding would be made to Just Lincolnshire. These bids were to:
Item 4. Parents Support Meeting. The last 2 meetings have been very successful, as indicated by the emails and website feedback from parents. We needed to decide upon the possible venue(s) and dates for the next meeting. With numbers increasing it was questioned whether we should soon consider having 2 venues: north at Uncle Henry's, and south at Sleaford. A map of locations of the parents, with the possible meeting venues of Uncle Henry's, Sleaford and a central venue of Bailgate Church are highlighted, is attached at the end of these Minutes. It had been noted that on Facebook people had asked for a children free next meeting so more direct questions could be asked. The idea of the next meeting at Uncle Henry's on Saturday 16th April (provisionally booked) was considered a good option with the idea of 2 groups, north & south, floated for acceptance by the group at that meeting. The consideration of asking for a minimum donation of £1 from each person attending was excellent as this would offset costs. It would be just for parents this time so that they were free to ask questions.
Item 5. Teenage Support Group. GT had been diligent in pushing through ideas for the formation of a LGBTQ teenage support group. She had been in discussion with the YMCA in Lincoln and the LGBT teenage group in Louth, running in a Methodist Church, so we could get 'best practice'. A venue at Riverside Church on Southgate, Sleaford, had been agreed and which was totally supported by the Church Leadership Team. They had agreed to charge £15 per session, a reduced rate. Riverside had agreed that we could use the front cafe, the conference room and there was also a back room where another group might meet - also hot water would be made available for us to hot drinks. GT had already been liaising with Volunteer Services to get DBS accreditation. On LGBT Sleaford another lady, who does have a child's DBS, had volunteered to help out as well. We needed to agree on the need for external expertise and equipment that was required. A draft media press release had been circulated but concern was felt at releasing the location of the venue for fear of identifying those teenagers who wished to attend: the release would be delayed until nearer the opening but would not disclose the actual venue. GT had contacted people with skills in hairdressing et al who might be useful to help with the teenagers as they came out. It would be beneficial if funds could pay for:
Item 6. Any Other Business. We also required to engage with the local secondary schools at St George's and the Girl's High School so they were aware of the new resource. Dependent upon the interview result for BS a request may be made to take an assembly at SGA to promote the teenager group. GT would investigate the possibility of advertising the group at KSHS.

- Sustain the parents support group, although it may be felt that these should be partially subsidised by the parents themselves.
- Provide the financial backing for the teenage support group in Sleaford.
- Maintain the infrastructure for publicity and IT (website).

- Bean Bags for lounging as teenagers do.
